This is a technique based on electrolysis which deposits a protective layer on the surface of your part that is harder and more resistant than raw aluminum actually is.

This coloring technique uses the change in state of the surface of your part to trap color pigments in the anodized layer.

This layer will therefore protect your part against wear and tear due to friction and impacts.

Moreover, with the latest techniques, the result is superb and you get a perfect hold over time.
